Creating with My Sister

My sister is in town and we created some cards today. Well, one each....in between watching the baby girl and hanging out. I made one for the lady who sent Abby the colorful hat and Chris made one for her sister in law.
I used the image from weedsgalore...the flower lady. I love her and she fit the look exactly. Tomorrow we are going to breakfast with family and then we might either make cards or jewelry.

Creating

Here are a couple of new cards that I have made.

This first card is part of a card kit that I made as a prize for my weekly contest on PCMB. I made 1 completed card and included enough items for 4 additional cards. Christmas is still a few months away. But it is always good to be thinking of it.
This card I made for the challenge that Kokopelli hosted. The goal was to include purple (her favorite color), our favorite color, our initial, and a charm. I made my own just a note charm using shrink plastic.
This card I made just because. I was bored and it was around midnight. I took a punch of different orange scraps and came up with this. The next morning I decided to make a charm with the stamp.
This card is made for this week's challenge hosted by Weedsgalore. Our goal was to use pink, white, green...I used more of a blue/green...but I hope she doesn't mmind. Our other items to use were ribbon and dimensional flowers.

Baby Update & Other Stuff

Hi,

Sheldon once again told me that it has been awhile since we have (I) updated the blog. We were out of town last week visiting my mom, Sheldon was analyzing his samples from Tunisia and I went to CKC--Charlotte.

First off, it is always a wonderful thing to visit my mom and stepdad. I love that Sheldon has to go to NC to get his samples analyzed. My mom spoils me. I guess being pregnant and not very mobile helps a lot. But it is nice. For awhile there it was every few months that we saw each other...lately it has been every month. Plus she is going to help us when the baby comes along.

Secondly, Sheldon is very excited. He is finally able to start writing his paper as his analyzes have been working out. So after work he takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to work on it. And I am leaving him alone. Which is very good...because once the baby gets here...it might not be that easy.

Thirdly, I had a fantastic time at the convention. I had never been to one before and I had the best roommate and class pal. GiftsbyHeidi. I was a bit nervous as we didn't know each other super well before going it felt like I have known her forever. Poor Heidi though, I couldn't walk very well....and she is from the DC area. Plus, we were ablet o visit with two of our other online buddies---Gayle & Lisa. I still have to finish my projects....I finished some the other night. But I haven't been super motivated. Heidi can really book though.

Since coming home, I had to take the second Gestational Diabetes test....I failed the first one by 9 points....So Thursday I had to go and take the 3 hour. Luckily, I passed. So that is good news. Next tuesday, we have our 28 week Ultrasound. This should be very fun.

On the crafting note, here is a picture of my weekly challenge card. It was supposed to be Halloween with non-traditional colors.

And finally, today Sheld & I went and registered at Target. My mom is hosting an online baby shower for us and told us...REGISTER. So while there, I found this cute onsie with an owl on it. (We have decided that Athena the Godess of Wisdom is Abigail's guardian angel....we saw an owl out hiking, the other day driving home from my mom's, then when we went to the doctor's we did a u-turn on Athena Drive. So if that isn't a sign...I am not sure what is. So we decided to dress up Batman in the outfit. I was quite amazed at how well he took it. Doesn't he look cute?

All caught up...

With getting closer and closer to my due date....still 3 months away. I am feeling he urge to be caught up on everthing. Last night, I finally did it. I had 2 RAK's of images that I fnally completed, a card contest, a math quiz, and packaged cards for a friend. Yeah....6 items went out in the mail today.

Oficially, all I have left to do on my plate is 2 swaps. One due in September, and one that I need to finish up now. Not too bad though. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed and I feel a lot better now.

Next, Weekend I am going to CKC Charlotte...so today we went to the store and picked up all the odds and ends that I didn't own.....gel pens, distressing ink, and so forth and so forth....$40.00 later....I finally have everything.

Hope you'll are having a great summer weekend....school has already started here. I feel bad for the kids.

Cupcake Trio Swap

I guess it is pretty bad when Sheldon asks why my blog hasn't been updated. hehehe

Well first, I haven't been doing anything exciting this week....besides sleeping and relaxing. It took me a lot longer to recoop than I thought. Now, I need to start getting in gear for th CKU convention in 2 weeks and finish all my swaps. I have 3 swaps left to work on, several pifs, and a couple of cards for friends. After that....I am done.

It is about 10 minutes long but it is an interesting story.

New Fun Card

Hi,
I received my order of beads from Fire Mountain today. So after gettin a bunch of projects done while Sheldon was doing school stuff....I decided to create.First I created a set of beaded stick pins to use on cards. What is nice is that they can be used later as coat/hat pins. Or just kept for a memento.2 of the ones I made are using Polymer Clay Beads that I have left over from a couple of years ago....one is a Zebra, the other one is a teddy bear. I actually have a couple of other teddy bears and will make some more of those. They will be so cute for a little girl.The other 3 I made are using different beads that I have had and some new ones that I have ordered. They are just fun and will look cute on cards.

Unexpected trip & on TV (Kind of)

Sheldon and I ended up going to North Carolina so that he could work on his samples at UNC. We didn't think it was going to happen and I had called my mom the day before to tell her that....however, I didn't listen to my voice mail. :) So I ended up having to call her back. We left last Wednesday and came back on Tuesday.

We had a great time.....I was able to visit with my mom and stepdad while Sheldon was off working. Plus, we ended up going to the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit at the Science Museum. That was pretty interesting.

NOw we are home and we have very upset kitties....they won't leave us (me) alone. I am going to go crazy....all they want is 24/7 worth of attention. Oh wait, that is what they wanted before. LOL

Yesterday, I was supposed to clear out some stuff around the house. However, I joined a PC Pro Swap on PaperCrafts and it was a fast turnaround....only 2 weeks and I had to make 11 cards. So I worked on that all afternoon/evening yesterday. I guess this swap is going to be on tv.

The theme is summertime fun---Birthday or Thank you's. I left my inside blank so the cards can be used as either. I had already colored my images (as I was going to use them for New Year's cards) so that saved me a lot of time.

However, I did lots of layers and fake sewing....I cannot wait until I can learn how to sew for real.

I joined a scrap/already stamped image swap and I made the following cards for it. I received the images from Deb at Sharing My Obsession. I was pretty lucky to have a bunch of scrap SU pattern paper.

This last card is a challenge card I made for today's challenge on Paper Crafts Magazine. It needed to include---teal, red, a button, and chipboard.

Okay.....some of the latest Cards

I don't even think that I can post them all in one posting and I can only put 4 pictures in at once. That tells you have busy I have been. I had signed up for a bunch a swaps and want to get them done before I get too busy with baby stuff. Plus, I have bought some new stamps and want to use them. (If you cannot tell....my buying freeze has come to an end. However, most of the items I have bought is because I have sold a bunch of stuff on eBay and it has come from my PayPal account.)

I completed 3 swaps in the last 2 days

WOW!!! I have been busy. Well not really. Since I didn't do too much else. I finished up two swaps to be sent to inkypingers on PC website. Let's here it for the boys & Fundie Undies swap. Then I started and finished up a swap for Just Kelli which was for a paper doll swap. (My mermaid started as a template for a cookie cutter that I found on the internet.)

Let's see if you can guess which is for which? (Which means I am too tired to separate everything.)

Father's Day Card

Hi, I used my new Penny Black clear Stamps the other day to make this card. I had Sheldon's dad in mind while making it. Now I have to make a couple of more cards. I was going to do it yesterday...however, I went to the library and found a bunch of books to read. Plus, my husband's boss told Sheldon of a game he had been playing on Facebook so I decided to check it out. I think this is the first time in 6 months I have been on Facebook. The game is called Scramble...it is a mixture of Scrabble and Boggle. You create words/steal words/defend words by changing them into new words/create new words for 2 or more words someone else has already created. I do have to say the computer cheats or I am going to have to read the dictionary to discover more words. Every word that I decided to put in there....it says isn't a real word...but man some of the words it comes up with. LOL Well....after having tired wrists I quite playing. I think one bad thing about pregnancy is that you receive every ailment in the book. This time it is Carpal Tunnel.

And the prize package is pretty cool. Come look at their rules and guidelines but pretty much anyone can join....except me....Sheldon has told me I cannot join as I get too stressed out. :)

Another Whipper Snapper

Here is a card I finished up last night. This is another image that I colored on Friday while watching tv with dh. As you can tell I am still not that great with my copics....I only have 12 of them....so I try a few little tips to make the colors lighter/darker. I think this card weighs more than the baby right now....I used so many layers.

A Couple of Cards...

Hi,

I have been a bit slack this week in creating. It has been so hot here that I don't feel like doing a lot during the day. Well that isn't true. I think I read 3 books in as many days. I haven't done that in probably 5 years. In high school I would read 5 or 6 200 page books a night. I would start reading at 3 pm and besides eating dinner...do nothing but read untill 1-2 am.

This first card I made for the informal challenge on PaperCrafts Mag website. It was to do a Paper Piecing Card. I found a free quilt pattern online and used that for my square.
The second card I made while Sheldon and I were watching a movie. My friend Janice sent me some Whipper Snapper images..She always colors hers using Prismas and Gamasol, however, she recommended that I not do that since I am pregnant. So instead I used my copics.

Daily Challenge on PaperCrafts Website

Hi,

Awhile ago...I started a daily challenge on PC website. Each day someone new was supposed to post a challenge. It went pretty well for awhile but then kind of went away. There had been some interest in restarting it....so I issued a challenge for Today/Tomorrow....Using the Masking Technique. This is definitely something I am not great at.....That is why it is a challenge. LOL

Here is what I came up with. Origianlly I came up with a fantastic idea of the birds all stacked up on top of each other and having the sentiment Friendship Grows. But I realized soon enough....I wasn't that talented. Therefore, I thought of how excited our cats get when the birds come to our bird feeders and how they are in kitty heaven. So that is how I came up with this idea. I love using Tiny who I call Fat Cat.

As you can see, I have the black along the edges...I noticed I had some smudges so I was trying to hide that. Then I noticed I had a lot more smudges in other places. I am hoping noone notices and thinks it is part of the design. :)

Happy Birday!!!

Hi....

I decided to make and post another card....I guess I am feeling creative tonight. It is finally starting to cool off...we are going to have a storm hit. I used some of my scraps of the SEI paper that I had....and just kept layering. It is 4.25 x 4.25. Wasn't sure what to do with it. And I saw on PaperCrafts Website a post by pjpants about doing a paper piercing swap so I tried it and used my SU bird set (first time using it.) and it is a bit busy....but I like it.

Birthday Card

Hi...

I bought PaperCrafts 101 Magazine...it is 14.99 but definitely worth it. I loved all the cards and actually decided to try and to make one.

The one I did is on page 81 called Eat Cake. My layout is pretty similar but I used flower instead of a rub on wording (eat cake) in the middle. Plus I placed a sentiment down in the corner...which they didn't have. I was originally going to put a puffy cake sticker in the middle...however, it was too big and the wrong colors.

I won't say who this card is for....they might be reading. :) Probably not!!! I will just say....somehow my DH his mom & his dad's birthday's are all a couple of days apart. And I doubt it is for dh or his dad.

Also, I didn't have a piece of chipboard so I made my own version of the circle cutout using my CB.

Just Because...

I made these two cards this evening...Just Because!!! I received this set, I think it is called Furnished with Love from a friend. We swapped a bunch of stamps. I thought it looked like a fun set and would be easy to color with the copics.
Poor Sheldon, I think I was up and down about 20 times during the movie we were watching. First I had to clean up a previous mess that was driving me crazy. Then I started working on these. I pulled out the CB and everything...but decided not to use it. Overall I kept them pretty simple.

New Swaps!!!

Hi,

I have actually finished 2 swaps. :) I think I have 3 more to do. So I am doing pretty good. Last night Sheldon and I went to an Eagle Scout Ceremony. I am definitely thinking that if we have a boy...he is going to become a Boy Scout. Randy was a great guy. Sheldon works with his dad and it was really nice meeting him. He is graduating this year and will be going to Georgia Tech.

So, after we did that...Sheldon and I decided last night to watch a movie. One of my normal routines while we are watching tv is to craft....drives Sheld crazy as I leave a huge mess along the way. However, I get things done when I do this.

So I decided to work on my Photo Image Card Swap. I used my picture of Rocky. It didn't turn out quite the way I wanted. However, with a face like that....how bad could the card be.
