Not So NEW Couch

I have been wanting a sofa....Sheldon was happy with the futon. I told him I would keep looking and find one for a good deal. Well he would have to admit FREE is a great deal. My boss and his wife had just bought some new furniture and were getting rid of their old.

I told him I would take it. My co-worker took my futon and it was a done deal. Though the couch wasn't quite our style....It was a bit southwestern. So I started looking online for slipcovers. Sure-Fit has an outlet store on Ebay. First slipcover I bid on I was outbid. But then...I bid on this one...I wasn't too sure of it...it looked extremely yellow. But it was a bargain and I loved the blue flowers.

Well it works....though it doesn't stay on since our sofa seats are a bit flimsy. But it works for us and the cats of course. Now we are waiting for the chair covers to arrive.

As you can tell...I am procrastinating. I am working on a poem analyze for American Literature class and am having a hard time. So I thought I would take a 10 or 20 (or 30) minute break. The great analyzer in the house is out metal detecting.

Christmas in August

I signed up for a Christmas Card swap. I thought I would be better about getting my Christmas Cards made or even give away some that I receive. But I already don't know if this is the one or not. Though, who doesn't like House Mouse. I probably would have to change the layout a bit. It might not be noticeable in the picture but I have a total of 6 layers of carddstock---plus the base. YIKES. That can get a bit expensiveI guess I better join a few more swaps.

In an ideal world I would have 50 cards done by November. But like normal, it will probably be closer to rushing 20 out at the last minute. We will see..

Newest Addition to our Family

My brother and sister-in-law finally found out what they were having....ANOTHER BOY!!! Congratulations Dave & Carrie....His name is Leland Mitchell. I am already trying to give him a nickname...LOL. Luckily for me I am the aunt and I can do that.

I made and sent them a card to celebrate the newest edition. I added some flowers because Carrie hasn't been able to have all th frilly girl stuff...YET. They are already planning their next one. If they aren't careful they might end up with 3 boys. Caleb, Leland and....

Sheldon's Birthday

Friday was Sheldon's 36th birthday. I asked him what he wanted to do and he said go out and eat. :) I knew that wasn't true (but he was trying to make me happy).....because he prefers home cooking to restaurants. I guess I spoil him. LOL
So....I bought some cream cheese spread, little baguettes, cheese fries........and then I made steak and veggie kebabs.....they were delicious.
We had anice weekend...though all weekend he kept asking to go out to the movies...but we haven't made it there, yet.

Pet Lover's Swap

This swap turned out FANTASTIC. Everyone who participated created such amazing cards. The orignal premise of this was to give cards from you to your pet....but it turned out to also be from your pet to you....pretty easy. My Goal was to do 50/50 between kitties and dogs and it turned out well.
Thank you to the following swappers for making this great:

  • Fgrif

  • Donna2257

  • Beaglelover

  • 40isFun

  • Janice W

  • Kenzlane

  • 2for2

Inchie Contest Winners & Participants

{Finally Revealed}

I cannot believe how slow I am on getting this finished….I think it is because I don’t want to give up these inchies…. They are all gorgeous. I was amazed at how different each card was and the different styles. All in an inch. Everything from flowers to shoes.

Officially…..(But everyone is a winner.)
  • Ant Me. #3 Wins with the most “Layers”. She has over 134 separate pieces on her incihe. It is also hard to see in the photo but her inchie is actually on transparent plastic. (She wins a Stamp.)
  • Reidy2099 #8 is our voters choice. A lot of people loved the 3d effect of the layers. (She wins a stamp.)
  • Singaling #7 came in second place. She combined different colors and lots of layers. (She wins the inchies.)
  • Beauuuuutiful #1 is our random drawing winner. Her card became a bit squished in mailing because of the layers she had in her flower. (She wins 20 stamped images.)

Doctor's Appointment

Yesterday was our doctor's appointment....Yeah. Though I hate going to the doctor. My blood pressure is doing pretty good. It was down when he took it and then today I took it and it was 115/73. So exercise must be helping. I have one more Doctor's appointment in a month and then we are going to be officially trying. :)
My online weight loss group is creating scrapbook pages each member and sharing them with each other....since we are all in this journey together. So I had Sheldon snap my picture yesterday.
Then while we were taking pics of the birds....I snapped one of him and the "Princess" Oreo. I notice today that we were matching....Yikes we are married.

Where is Batman?

I noticed that we had pics of Rocky & Oreo....but none of Batman. I didn't want him to feel left out.....as if he would notice....but last night we decided to give him his own little photo op....
And because he is mostly black with a little bit of white he doesn't photograph as well as Rocky....who was lying on the bed looking all cute and cuddly....if you don't know the story...his real name is Rocky Road (Ice Cream).
So we took a few of each of them.....

Eat your Veggies....

Since we are growing lots of veggies...we thought we would start practicing eating them early. We made a cucumber, tomatoe, onion, lettacue and cream cheese sandwiches for lunch....they turned out pretty good. I knew we were missing something....mushrooms. Don't tell my mom...growing up I absolutely hated MUSHROOMS....but I like them now...but only when they are fresh.

A Day in the Life of Rocky....

I have to say. Rocky has it pretty good. He usually gets fed when he wants...and as much...as much loving...even Sheldon will normally pet him when he wants...since he is normally such a mommy's boy...(Sheldon likes to stay in his good graces.)
This day was no exception....I went outside to water the veggies and in the process did a little kitty photo shoot.....He just loves the sunshine.

What a happy boy....MEOW!!!!
