One More Swap Down...and don't tell the cats

Hi, I joined a puppy dog swap. :) I love dogs...growing up we always had animals and usually it was both dogs and cats. It wasn't until I was living on my own and in apartments that I just had cats. Though I have to admit...I have known Rocky for a long time. I bought him for my birthday back in 1996, right after I moved back to Washington from California. That means he will be 12 this year. I should find his baby picture. He was the cutest cat.

But back to point....we are talking about dogs. :) I bought a clear stamp set from cddollarstamps the other day. Actually I bought 9 sets for $25.00 including shipping. That was a pretty good deal. One set was a kitty set on sale for $2.00. I couldn't beat that. I have been wanting to get a dog set, especialy since my mother-in-law works with animals. I would like to send her a set of cards.

I might actually use the idea I came up for with this swap today. I made 6 different cards but used the exact same supplies and pieces. I cut everything out and then decided to figure out how to put it together. LOL I wish I was someone who drew sketches and planned everything out because it would be nice to know that I wasn't going to have a huge mess on my hands. But I don't. So the final outcome is always a surprise...not always a pleasant one either.
The long weekend is over...back to the real world tomorrow. :) I already have 2 tests for school and a job interview. I never heard back from the University on the part-time job. This new job is with a bank. I had called in a few weeks ago on another opening, which had been filled. But she had me send in my resume and she called me last week to let me know they had another opening. I am excited. Wish me luck.

Hope you'll have a great week. Jennie

Brain Dead

Hi,

I have to say....school is hard. LOL I am taking 2 online classes this semester and my accounting class was getting away from me for awhile. I was studying and doing the homework but kept having the same problem on different assignments. It took me several trys to figure out what was going on--and let me tell you---my brain was fried. Once I figured it out, it was a duh moment.

So now that I am all caught up with classes. I decided to try and get caught up on swaps. I was going through my swap list and getting all organized and realized I am in 21 swaps. I guess I was a little sign up happy while Sheldon was gone. Luckily for me though I only have to complete 7 more of them.

Tonight, I finished 2. Yeah! The bug swap I had already made a set of cards, but decided I didn't like them. The other one I did tonight was Pampered ATC's. I decided to use a travel theme because that is the ultimate in pampering.

Actually, all in all, today was a busy day. Sheldon and I had our first official date night since he has been back. He suggested it, and he also suggested, making it like our first date. :) Isn't that romantic. We actually had our first date on December 27, 2002 and we went and saw 2 Week Notice and had Thai food for dinner. So today, we went and saw 27 Dresses and then ate at Fatz Cafe. (Not the same as Thai...but Sheld still isn't feeling 100%.)

Do you remember your first date with your significant other?

Take care. Jennie

Sheldon is Home

He is back from Tunisia. Yeah. Though he isn't feeling very good today. I guess his body needs to adjust to being home. So we took it pretty easy and did some minor things. Like....fixing my computer!!! Yeah, it was a pretty easy fix. He just had to clean out the fan area. We probably have lots of cat hair and it was really dusty recently.

We were supposed to go listen to a lecture on 300 today...but since Sheldon wasn't feeling good we didn't go. Which was okay for me, I spent from 3 pm to almost 9 working on school work. Yikes...it is a lot of working taking online classes.

Plus, in honor of Sheldon coming home...I created this cute dog card (don't tell the kitties).

Hope you have a great night...we might actually get some snow here.

Fun Spring Card

After making those sympathy cards I decided I should try and make something else. It was only midnight. LOL Plus, they had a Monk Marathon on and it hadn't ended yet. I stamped a few images and started playing with my copics. I did this image 3 different times and it came out a bit different each time. I just made one card though for the moment.

I ended up using my copics. I have to say some of the tips that I have read I have made a huge difference. I still haven't figured out hilighting yet. However, the picking up one color with another has helped a lot. Especially since most of my colors are darker. I am going to start going to Hobby Lobby and picking up a color here and there with their 40% off coupons.

Take care and remember Easter comes in March this year.

The Hardest Cards to Create

This week 2 of my friends have lost a parent. That has to be the hardest thing for anyone to go through. I don't think I can even explain to each of them my condolences. I am glad that they both have great families to help see them through this.

I have never been good about creating Sympathy cards. I believe those are the hardest to do. However, I have this beautiful garden collage set and I used it for both of the cards. I hope that they don't mind that the cards are the same but it reflects my feelings how I feel about their loss.

If you can, please send a prayer for Jacque's mother and Lidia's dad.

Thanks....

My Kitties are Famous

My friend Sue sent me a drawing of my kitties. She didn't have a great picture of the 3 of them to work with but she definitely captured their spirit. She did an amazing job. Almost too good, yesterday they kept looking at me with that mischievous looks on their faces. It was eerie.

I appreciate it so much, the time and effort she put into the drawing. I am going to go and frame it.

Thanks again, Sue!

A Whole lot of ATC's!

I joined an alphabet swap. I am not sure why I did it. LOL I loved the idea of seeing everyones ATC's...but wasn't looking forward to making 26.

Then on top of that I picked the letter T. There were tons of letters left at the time...and I have no idea why I picked this one. I first was going to do a time theme....with a cool collage background. But that lasted about 2 seconds.

Then I couldn't figure out what I was going to do. So when I went to HL the other day...they had CB embossing folders on sale. 30% off....I almost didn't see it...but they had the ty one there and to begin with it was $1.00 cheaper than the other ones.

So I bought that...then yesterday on SCS someone did a cool technique...and I asked her about it. She got it from someone else...Stamping Kub....and what it was doing...is inking the top part of the inside of the embossing folder...placing the paper in there...and embossing it.

I tried it....I like how it came out...very graphic and very messy. I have ink all over my leg...some on the cuttlebug that didn't come off...but it came off of the embossing folder with just a rinse. Next I used a SU stamp Thanks and dug through my letters and found that I had more than 26 T's...and used red/white paperclips to attach them.

Thanks for looking....I probably started on these around 11 last night and finshed at 1:30.

Cardkeepers

What a wonderful product this is....my stamping friend from PC message board started a new business. I heard about the product from a couple of people and decided I better check it out. It is a mini album for your cards. What is nice is that the cards can be easily removed if you wanted to give them to someone. I love it. It is also a wonderful idea for moms, grandmas, and such...I know I send my mom cards all the time and she likes to keep them but doesn't know what to do with them. This will be a perfect gift for her.

However, for the moment...I just bought myself one to get my cards in order. I am going to have spots for 110 cards....LOL Anything more will have to be given to someone else to enjoy!

The creator of Cardkeepers is Lucy and here is her website. I love the idea of supporting another crafter. Hope you do to.

Have a great day.

First Day of School

I feel like a kid again. Well almost! Today is the first day of classes and since I am taking 2 online classes I don't actually get to go to class. However, I have spent the last couple of hours reading the syllabuses and figuring out what to do.

I am taking accounting and social work. Two totally different classes but they work for me. This semester will help me decide which direction to finish my degree in. Since Sheldon is probably graduating (or at least finishing) by December 2008. I will not be applying to UGA. I will wait and finish my classes when we move. It is especially important because you need to have so many of your classes at a particular school to graduate.

I had a job interview today. It was for a parttime accounting position. I have done accounting related work before but always with other duties. So this would be a good experience for me if I receive it. Please keep your fingers crossed for me.

Today, has not been a crafting day! However, tomorrow is a new day and after getting some projects done I might get a chance to create. On the other hand, today was an excellent mail day. I received two altered dominos from the domino toss that I am in. My SU order came and I received my order of retired SU stamps. Next, I received a thank you package from someone I sent some images to. Lastly, I received a great set of ATC's for a swap that I am hosting.

Now it is time to go eat. :) Have a great night! Or day!

Newest creations

I thought I would post some of my creations...even if the photos didn't come out. Sheldon doesn't have Photoshop on his computer...and well...we won't go there. LOL
I just made this card for SCS Limited Supplies Challenge. No white cardstock. That wasn't too hard for me today....I have no good white left.

Here are a couple of my latest cards that I have made for swaps.

As you can probably tell. This one is for a bug swap. The coloring isn't the best. I became carried away and decided to try and outline the images....just the flower stems...yuck. I might go over it with another coat of marker...or cut out some leaves and put them on top. This was using my Marvy markers and blender pens. Not too bad. The sentiment is with the stamp that stampcrazymom sent me as a pif.
And this one is for a shoe swap. My initial plan was to make paper shoes and make cards out of them. I found a template...and cut out all of them...then realized that they were way too big. So I decided to just do this image instead. It is cute. The paper I found at Big Lots 8 sheets for $1.00. It is flocked...so it has some nice texture. I used copics for the image and used some of the gel medium.

Sorry my posts are usually so short. I usually have a cat or 2 trying to sit on my lap.

My compter is slowly dying...

I hope it is just the fan....but I am afraid to turn it on. Luckily for me, Sheldon has his own computer. Yeah!!! I hope I don't kill his off.

I have some new items to post. However, it will be awhile...I have to figure out how to hook up the camera on his computer and reset myself up.

Hope everyone is having a great New Year so far. :)

Christmas TY's and swaps completed

I have been busy...staying up too late and crafting. I now need to spend some time sending it all out. LOL

Last night I made some quick TY cards. Jess sent me these cute penquins and I knew I had to use them. I need to make a couple more...but luckily for me I still have a couple.

Earlier in the day I completed my Happy Hearts ATC Swap. Yeah.....one more down. 7 more to go.
