Saving the Best for last

I knew I was forgetting something. :) Sheldon found a really cool trestle table plans in one of his Popular Mechanics Magazine. We asked Rich if he could make us one. He said sure. Well we received it this weekend. And it is absolutely gorgoues. It is made out of cherry and the details and workmanship is amazing.

The table comes apart very easily. The top just pulls off and the legs come apart. When we finish school this will become Sheldon's office desk. But for the moment it will be our dining room table.

Expanding my creativity

I wanted to try and make paper snowflakes. I searched all over the internet for directions. Martha Stewart had directions for doing papercut outs like what we did as kids. Well mine did not work out at all. I felt destined to fail at this simple task.


Then I found a link on wiki....(not sure exact link). That had these gorgeous snowflakes with step by step directions. Normally I wouldn't try to do something this grand but I challenged myself. I ended up using 2.5 sheets of 12x12 paper to make this. it is 12 inches in diameter. I tried to get away without using any tape (just my adhesive) and ended up having to go back and taping everything. It was actually pretty easy to make.


After making the snowflake, I tried making smaller ones to see if I could make package decoration sizes. But the smaller you go, the harder it is to staple and put together. But one section, looks like an icicle so I used that to make a card. It would make a great package topper too.I also, tried some different style Christmas cards. Not my favorite, but different.






My aun't s birthday was this month. I did send her a card but wanted to create another one for her when I saw her over thanskgiving. She loves black/red so I tried to create a graphic card for her.

After Thanksgiving

For the first time in years, I went shopping the day after Thanksgiving. I was up by 5:30 AM and out the door by 6 to go to Kohl's and do some clothes shopping. I have an interview on Tuesday and needed some new clothes. It is pretty exciting. size 16's were way too big. 14's are big in the waist but my hips get in the way. LOL

After that my mom & Rich came and we went to the mall to do a little more shopping. I wasn't planning on buying anything but mom was nice and bought me a new workout outfit and a couple of tee-shirts. Which I appreciate very much. I already wore them out, when we went to workout last night.

Then after going to lunch with mom & Rich, Sheldon and I decided to go to OfficeMax. We ended up getting me a mp3 player so I had something to listen to at the gym. Sheldon bought himself some memory. (Though I still think his memory will be bad.) Plus, we ended up getting a good shredder. We are planning on shredding all of our paper and making handmade paper out of it. Recycle, Recycle, Recycle. :)

To my delight, Joann's is next door to Officemax. So we ran in there to see if they had any stamp deals. Found some darling Christmas $1.00 stamps and stamp pads.

After that we went to Cinnabon and the bookstore so Sheldon could get a book on Tunisia.

When we got home I found two PIF packages in the mail for me. One from Jacque with this cutest stamp and one from Jess with ink pads and Luminaries. I am so excited to use all of them. Jess is hosting a domino swap and I believe all of those will work for it. And the stamp is just my personality....Jacque did a great job in picking that out for me.

Yesterday, we did errands and chores. Trying to keep the house clean. Since I scrubbed it down for my mom's visit. Plus, we went to the movies and saw American Gangsta. It was a really good movie. I was quite suprised.

More Thanksgiving

When Sheld & I got to Dave & Carrie's house....mom and Caleb were already upstairs playing. So I went and visited and took some pictures of all the fun they were having. Caleb was showing grandma that he liked to take all his toys out of the closet. He doesn't quite understand the one toy at a time rule.

Later on everyone hung out and talked.

Plus, I snuck into the kitchen and took a picture of the chef.

Thanksgiving 2007

This year Thanksgiving was at Dave & Carrie's house. With Leland only being a couple of weeks old and Carrie's mom visiting this seemed like the optimal choice. My mom and Rich drove in from North Carolina and my aunt and uncle drove in from Tennessee. So it was a nice and full house.

Carrie's mom, Donna made the majority of dinner. My mom and I the day before got together and made some casseroles and dessert. AJ & UD bought his famous mac salad which we forgot to put out, plus the fudge & caramels.

In this first set of pictures you can see who one of the stars of the show was. :) While mommy is his favorite person...Leland allowed Sheldon, Dave & myself to hold him for awhile.

Semi-Professional Photo Shoot

Well....kind of....Sheldon & I took these pictures of each other. Sheldon wanted to go and metal detect at the WOW Park. And I wanted to get some pictures of the changing leaves. Right before leaving I thought...maybe we can get some photos of each other, to send out to family. Sheldon doesn't like posed shots...but I do. :)

Luckily for me...when we got to WOW, it was way too crowded for Sheldon to metal detect. So we went for a walk on the path to see if we could find any trees to shoot. Most of the trees back in the woods weren't very attractive. So we had to improvise and of course Sheldon will tell you how bossy I am. However, unlike him it takes a few shots to get a good photo of me. Or I am just pickier about myself. He is a good photographer and it didn't take too long. We first had it on a setting that turned our faces ghostly white. So he switched it to automatic and that turned out a lot better.

The best pic of me....I am a little out of focus but it looks like that is what we are going for. His turned out good...they always do. :) My very own Matt Damon. LOL

Then we took some funny shots in Sheld's hat.

Last but definitely not least....is a photo of a little bridge going over the water. Since we are having a drought here in Georgia there wasn't much water.

Baby Trip

Today we made the trip to visit with the newest addition to the family. He is not even a week old yet...but Leland is an adorable baby. He is a momma's boy already but he is sweet tempered. He let me hold him for a few minutes but then it was back to momma.This probably isn't the best picture of him...but hey...spitups happen. :) Momma is doing good. She is hurting a bit but then she just had a baby. Both Dave and her mom are around to help her out.

I won't forget about the other boy over there, Caleb. He is a happy big brother. His grandma Donna is visiting from California for a month and Carrie said that she is spoiling him. But that is always good when there is a new baby in the house.

While we were visiting Caleb took me upstairs....last time I saw him he wasn't able to make it up yet. So that was exciting to see. Plus, he and I went outside for a little while. He found the bubbles in the closet and had to blow some. He is definitely getting independent....as he had more of the soap water on him than anything esle. But he wanted to do it himself and I let him.

He also decided that he wanted his toy firetruck to play with. As you can tell it is a little too small for him...but it sure was funny trying to watch him ride in it. Plus, he just received the Mr. Potato Head....so we put him together.

Last But Not Least...Fat Cat Series

I love the Fat Cat stamp. I want to use it on everything. :) It reminds me so much of Rocky. I have made 3 cards so far as part of a series. I sent one to my PCM friend because she had admired it. The other 2 I don't want to send off....yet.

I guess the first one isn't a fat cat...but he looks like Rocky when he was a baby. :) He had me fooled into thinking that he was going to be a short haired kitty. Not so.....

No one agrees with me...but the background is supposed to be seaweed. I initially used my watercolor pencils and blender pen to make the background. Then I started filling in with a black pen. I thought it turned out nice. Then because I didn't know what to do with it...I decided to cut it into sections and that is how I came up with the idea for the backgrounds.

I want to make a series similar to the Gnome ones seen on TV.

Now for some cards....

I have been trying different Christmas card ideas. And making other types of cards. It is fun. BUt sometimes I get intoa rut. So that definitely makes it hard. My biggest rut right now...is I use the ticket corner punch on everything. I love it. But I need to be a little different. (Maybe.)

This set was made with using the Stampin' Up Set Moose You. I am not sure how it came out Christmassy but I like the look of it. I made it as a gift for a family member. I guess I better mail it now. :)

WOW....

I didn't realize it had been so long since I have posted. :) Life must be busy. Though not sure why....all I have been doing is going to school, working out, crafting, and cleaning house. LOL Actually, Tuesday was our anniversary...3 years. We spent the day together and went to the Mall of Georgia. We had never done that before...however, there was a scrapbook store I wanted to checkout. Both, Sheldon & I had a great time.

New Stamps & New Cards

Hi...


I went crazy....well maybe not literally. But, I saw a set of stamps on eBay...and just had to have them. I waited a day. Then I looked...they were still available....they were buty it nows...I took the plunge and bought them. So I have my Christmas gift a bit early this year.


But...they are so cute. All Penny Black...and all kitties. I paid for them on Friday night and received them today. WOW....2 days. That is pretty good. So tonight I decided to play with them. They are a little hard to get clear impressions...but are worth it.

We had a real Adventure....

I made this card last night....it was for the Daily Card Challenge. We were supposed to make a Non-traditional Halloween card....using non-traditional colors. I think I did that. But it brought up memories of growing up. I think I am going to send it to my sister and ask her what her memories are...and add it to my scrapbook.

I don't know about you....but I remember some interesting Halloween experiences growing up.

The two that really stand out is the year when a couple tried to give us chocolate cake. We told them that we couldn't take it...but they didn't care they gave it anyways. They were probably trying to be nice. However, the group of us....John, Clint, Christine, David & myself....knew we weren't supposed to take anything but store bought candy. The minute we were out of site...the cake was thrown on the ground. That probably wasn't the best way to handle it. Nor the most mature....Chris & John were the oldest and they were probably about 8 at the time. So I guess it was to be expected. This was in the late 1970's.

Around the same time....there was a house. It was all decorated and spooky. All the lights in the house were off....except for the porch lights. There on the porch was a plastic pumpkin filled with quarters and a note...that said only take one.....otherwise...Beware. Well we all took just one. Though we talked big and said we would go back and grab more....that we would run faster than whoever was inside. Though....I think fear over greed won out. Especially since the curtain moved ever so slightly when we walked on the porch.

The other thing I remember is having to take my candy to the hospital and having it x-rayed. Nothing was ever found...but it was still a threat.

Years later....and yes...my sister went trick or treating in junior high/early high school. I remember trading out her candy for the stuff I didn't like. Because she never ate hers. She always knew though. Every few weeks or so she would do inventory on her candy.

Plus, my mom loved Halloween. In high school I thought I was too cool. But every time a kid would come up to the door she would call me over to look. I hated it then...but miss it now.

These are some of my memories....what about you? And what types of memories are you creating now. This will be my 4th Halloween here in Georgia and we have bought candy every year but have never had even one trick or treater.
