Christmas Time Is Here (Though it is almost 80 here)

Hi again,

Paper Crafts Magazine is having an online contest on gift wrapping. I am not that big of a wrapper normally....I have finally been able to get my gifts wrapped well enough for my sister not to believe that I have done it. LOL

However, I thought I would try this contest. Especially since this year we are giving away mostly gift cards. It is getting harder and harder to find gifts for family. Even Sheld & I have a really hard time buying each other gifts. We usually just pick them out ourselves.

Here are two of the gift boxes I have completed. One has a bit of ribbon, flowers and bling. The other one is a little more out there...with buttons, glitter, ribbon and snowflakes. :)

I also made a bow out of cupcake liners...but that isn't ready to be seen yet. I did that for my nephew Jared...it is with Scooby Doo liners.

I know I just posted...

However, I made my own light box. :) I need to get some lights to go with it so I can see how it works. But so far so good....here are too cards I did using it...with just one light.

WOW...I cannot believe how long it has been

since I have written anything. I have been exhausted and sick. :) Every day all I do is work and then come home and sleep. Now 10:00 bedtime is normal for some people...but for Sheld & I....1 AM is normal. Which kind of happened yesterday. I feel asleep right when we got home....about 6 until 9. Then I was awake until 1:30. Doing a little creating and checking out blogs.

Today it will be around 11:30 that we go to bed...that is soon so I better hurry. Tomorrow I have my final Science class....just a final and then I am done. I don't know if I received the job or not at the University. Since I haven't heard from them....I am thinking it is a no. That is too bad. I was kind of excited....it sounded like a wonderful job. But I will keep looking.

Here are a few items I have created recently...I have been a bit on a down cycle....Most of the products in these pictures are from my SS Traci....I am doing a 25 days of Christmas swap and wow she is spoiling me. I am going to try and use everything as I go. And I am working on CHristmas cards....since I haven't made mine yet. YIKES

Expanding my creativity

I wanted to try and make paper snowflakes. I searched all over the internet for directions. Martha Stewart had directions for doing papercut outs like what we did as kids. Well mine did not work out at all. I felt destined to fail at this simple task.

Then I found a link on wiki....(not sure exact link). That had these gorgeous snowflakes with step by step directions. Normally I wouldn't try to do something this grand but I challenged myself. I ended up using 2.5 sheets of 12x12 paper to make this. it is 12 inches in diameter. I tried to get away without using any tape (just my adhesive) and ended up having to go back and taping everything. It was actually pretty easy to make.

After making the snowflake, I tried making smaller ones to see if I could make package decoration sizes. But the smaller you go, the harder it is to staple and put together. But one section, looks like an icicle so I used that to make a card. It would make a great package topper too.I also, tried some different style Christmas cards. Not my favorite, but different.

My aun't s birthday was this month. I did send her a card but wanted to create another one for her when I saw her over thanskgiving. She loves black/red so I tried to create a graphic card for her.

Now for some cards....

I have been trying different Christmas card ideas. And making other types of cards. It is fun. BUt sometimes I get intoa rut. So that definitely makes it hard. My biggest rut right now...is I use the ticket corner punch on everything. I love it. But I need to be a little different. (Maybe.)
This set was made with using the Stampin' Up Set Moose You. I am not sure how it came out Christmassy but I like the look of it. I made it as a gift for a family member. I guess I better mail it now. :)

New Projects

I have been feeling pretty creative lately. :) Probably has something to do with wanting to procrastinate on school. But, I have been doing good so far this semester. Had my first test in Biology and made an A (with a 6 point curve). Been doing my workouts for Weight Training and Health & Fitness. So I am on track. Not only am I getting grades...but I am getting fit. I have done pretty good about keeping on track with my eating plan. Not perfect but a heck of a lot better than before.

So here are some projects I have made:

One I love the most....is this rendition of weedsgalore flower lady card. I put my spin on it. But overall everything is her idea. I just loved it and wanted to make the card.
Second is a card I made for Papercrafts contest...using products packaging. I used a sales tag from a stuffed animal. I think it is darling....and I have my oldy but goody Fat Cat Stamp.
Next, I made this fun Santa card. I used a pattern for a quilted tree runner in a Christmas decorating book.
Lastly, I have a few swap projects that I made.

Christmas in August

I signed up for a Christmas Card swap. I thought I would be better about getting my Christmas Cards made or even give away some that I receive. But I already don't know if this is the one or not. Though, who doesn't like House Mouse. I probably would have to change the layout a bit. It might not be noticeable in the picture but I have a total of 6 layers of carddstock---plus the base. YIKES. That can get a bit expensiveI guess I better join a few more swaps.

In an ideal world I would have 50 cards done by November. But like normal, it will probably be closer to rushing 20 out at the last minute. We will see..
